About the Role

The Irish Red Cross (IRC), part of the global humanitarian Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, seeks two Employment Training and Placements Officers for a full-time 1-year contract (with possible renewal based on funding). This role is pivotal in advancing IRC's mission to support vulnerable migrants, asylum-seekers, and refugees with employment services in Ireland, under programs funded by the Irish Government and EU.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of jobseekers from refugee or vulnerable migrant backgrounds to facilitate their employment and related outcomes.
  • Collaborate with participants to assess their needs, skills, experiences, and aspirations and devise individual action plans.
  • Design and deliver group employability training sessions as required.
  • Oversee and engage Volunteer Mentors, enabling both one-on-one and group support for participants.
  • Coordinate employer networking, job connection events, and peer support groups.
  • Work with the Employment Partnerships Officer to foster relationships with businesses for employment opportunities.
  • Support both employers and employees during placement matching and initial employment phases, offering on-the-job assistance.
  • Establish connections with educational/training providers, Intreo centers, Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs), and other bodies for appropriate participant referrals.
  • Conduct information webinars and provide on-site employment training and advice at state accommodation facilities including UCTATs and IPAS centres.
  • Participate in project planning, reviews, training, and stakeholder consultations to promote best practices.
  • Maintain detailed participant records and furnish regular reports to funders.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary.

Candidate Profile

  • At least two years of experience in migrant integration or employment sectors, including mentoring or coaching individuals into employment.
  • Deep understanding of employment challenges faced by refugees and migrants.
  • Strong knowledge of effective job search strategies, including skills identification, personal development, CV preparation, interview techniques, and networking.
  • Proficient training and facilitation capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with presentation proficiency.
  • Empathetic with strong relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and professional handling of sensitive information.
  • Competent in MS Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and CRM platforms.
  • Fluent English proficiency (writing to reporting standards and conversational).
  • Willingness and ability to travel across Ireland frequently.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Coaching, Adult Guidance, Migrant Integration, Youth Work, Project Management, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with the Irish Red Cross operations.
  • Experience collaborating with volunteers and employers/businesses.
  • Additional languages such as Arabic, Ukrainian, French, Dari or Pashto would be advantageous.
  • Possession of a full clean driving license and access to a vehicle is desirable.

Additional Information and Benefits

  • Annual salary between €41,936 and €46,936.
  • Employer contributes up to 5% towards a company pension scheme.

Location and Working Hours

The position is based at the IRC Head Office in Dublin, with frequent travel throughout Ireland. This is a full-time role with a 35-hour workweek arranged on flexible hours.
