Job description
About the Role
We are currently looking for a compassionate and organized Job Coach to assist individuals with disabilities in securing and maintaining employment in Buncombe County and nearby areas. This position involves providing personalized job coaching, hands-on training, and tailored support based on each individual's unique goals and capabilities. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are crucial to successfully collaborate with clients, employers, and team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage directly with individuals to explore vocational interests, skills, and employment objectives.
- Assist with crafting resumes, conducting job searches, submitting applications, preparing for interviews, and facilitating job placements.
- Deliver on-the-job training and coaching to enable individuals to learn their responsibilities and thrive at work.
- Match employment opportunities with clients’ strengths, abilities, and preferences.
- Create and execute personalized employment and training plans.
- Assist clients in identifying and overcoming employment barriers.
- Develop relationships with local employers and businesses to support job placement efforts.
- Advocate for appropriate workplace accommodations when necessary.
- Maintain comprehensive and timely documentation and reports.
- Work collaboratively with team members, clients’ families, and employers to ensure successful outcomes.
Qualifications
- Preferred degree in human services, business, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in job coaching or supported employment is preferred.
- Experience working with people with disabilities is advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, which may include evenings, nights, and weekends during training periods.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation is required.
