About the role

In this Employment Consultant position, you will work alongside Rehabilitation Consultants or Vocational Consultants to help people who have experienced injury or illness move into suitable new employment.

This role is based in the Sydney or Miranda, NSW office and involves active employer engagement, program promotion, applicant support, and relationship building with host employers.

Key duties

  • Reach out to potential host employers by phone to secure placements for injured workers taking part in SIRA programs, including volunteer or employee-style placements.
  • Promote SIRA initiatives and any incentives associated with them.
  • Prepare SIRA program paperwork and re-training applications for approval or review by an agent.
  • Build and maintain a network of employers and create a database of organisations willing to host candidates.
  • Travel to different locations within client areas to develop relationships with host employers and expand the host employer database.
  • Deliver job skills coaching and develop support materials for injured workers who need assistance finding new work.
  • Work toward placement KPIs within required timeframes, such as placing a client into a work trial within 6 weeks of referral.
  • Collaborate with the Head of New Employer Services to create resources that support the role and help grow the service nationally.

What you need

  • Confidence in phone-based communication, along with strong sales and marketing capability.
  • A proven background in call-based or sales roles, with at least 6 months of experience and a track record of meeting KPIs.
  • Resilience, persistence, and the ability to keep working toward positive outcomes in difficult situations.
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a personable approach that helps you build rapport quickly.
  • Knowledge of the NSW Workers’ Compensation scheme is helpful, though not required.
  • Full Australian working rights.
