Job description

About EY

EY describes itself as a globally connected organisation that supports people in building confident futures and contributing to a better working world.

The Opportunity

This is a 15-month parental leave cover role for an Employee Relations Manager. The position is centered on advising the business on complex, high-risk employee relations matters, rather than leading a direct team. You will operate as a senior specialist, supporting a high-performance culture through expert case management and practical guidance.

In this role, you will collaborate with leaders, HR Business Partners and other specialist teams to handle escalated issues such as workplace investigations, conduct concerns, illness-related matters, redundancies, restructures, and sensitive performance issues. You will also advise and coach Employee Relations Advisors on difficult cases and support strategic people initiatives such as legislative updates, policy work and continuous improvement.

The role can be based from any EY office across Australia, and flexible working options with reduced hours may be available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior escalation contact for complex and high-risk employee relations matters.
  • Work with HR Business Partners, General Counsel and other Talent specialists on issues including investigations, restructures and acquisitions.
  • Support leaders across the organisation with practical and durable solutions for sensitive people matters.
  • Provide specialist advice and informal coaching to Employee Relations Advisors working on complex cases.
  • Contribute to ER projects such as legislative changes, process refinement and related improvement initiatives.
  • Work within a flexible hybrid model that supports balance between work and personal life.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Proven background handling complex and escalated employee relations cases.
  • Solid understanding of employment law and regulatory obligations.
  • Current knowledge of case law, legislative updates, awards and emerging ER topics.
  • Practical, solution-oriented thinking when dealing with ambiguous problems.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining an effective team collaborator.
  • Experience navigating sensitive situations with diverse stakeholders.

What EY Offers

  • Career development opportunities with future-focused learning and global experiences.
  • Flexible work arrangements built on trust and autonomy.
  • A broad benefits package that includes a yearly wellness incentive, access to an additional 8 weeks of flex leave each year, and family-friendly policies.
  • Up to 26 weeks of gender-neutral paid parental leave.
  • A competitive salary, negotiable based on skills and experience.
