Role overview

This position is for an experienced Employee Relations Investigator to support workplace case handling in Hollywood, CA. The assignment is hybrid, with four onsite days each week, and is expected to run for 5+ months with a chance of extension.

The investigator will focus on carrying out impartial workplace inquiries and partnering with internal stakeholders to help maintain a respectful, fair, and policy-compliant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and coordinate employee relations investigations involving issues such as policy breaches, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other workplace complaints.
  • Speak with employees, gather supporting materials, and prepare clear, objective investigation summaries and reports.
  • Work with HR, Legal, and other business partners to move cases toward timely and effective resolution.
  • Guide managers and HR colleagues on next steps, escalation decisions, and recommended outcomes.
  • Identify matters that need escalation based on risk level, seriousness, or business impact.
  • Handle sensitive information with strong confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Apply company policies consistently and align actions with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manage a fast-moving caseload by organizing work effectively and meeting deadlines.
  • Support employee relations programs and preventive efforts that promote a healthy workplace culture.
  • Conduct union-related investigations when required.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of practical employee relations experience investigating workplace concerns in large organizations such as retail, theme parks, warehouses, or hospitality.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with Legal teams during workplace investigations.
  • Ability to recognize sensitive situations and escalate high-risk issues appropriately.
  • Strong discretion, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Union experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • No degree is required.

Additional details

Pay range: $48 to $50 per hour on W2.

Duration: 5+ months, with potential for longer extensions.

Location details: Hollywood, CA; hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite each week.

Not a fit for candidates whose main background is loss prevention, banking fraud, or other unrelated investigation work.
