Job description

Job Summary

This position supports site emergency readiness by answering emergency calls, standing by for duty, carrying out firefighting and rescue tasks, managing site access during incidents, and performing routine checks, inspections, servicing, and operation of safety and firefighting equipment and appliances to keep emergency systems fully functional.

The role also includes supplying required safety and fire-related items to plant users and, when needed, stepping in as an Emergency Response Leader.

Key Accountabilities

  • Respond promptly to fire alarms, emergency calls, and ambulance-related requests.
  • Carry out firefighting, rescue work, and chemical spill control as directed by the fire/safety lead and incident controller.
  • Conduct inspections, checks, and preventive upkeep of safety and firefighting equipment.
  • Follow communication procedures and handle all communication with the emergency centre appropriately.
  • Review and share lessons learned, industry alerts, and recommendations from incidents, inspections, audits, and emergency response activities; report findings, abnormalities, and unsafe conditions identified during patrols and routine inspections in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Keep stores, workshops, breakdown areas, and escape routes clean and organized so emergency equipment can be accessed and handled quickly.
  • Take part in continuous improvement efforts and suggest ways to improve emergency preparedness, response strength, and overall effectiveness.
  • Stay physically and mentally fit at all times and participate in firefighting, first aid, rescue training, and mock drills.

Desired Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have a minimum high school qualification in a relevant discipline and at least 5 years of hands-on, relevant experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, fertiliser, or heavy manufacturing sectors.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities are important, along with the capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.

NFPA Firefighter I & II certification, or an equivalent qualification, together with valid First Aid/CPR certification, is required. Additional certification in HazMat Awareness and Operations, Basic Rescue Training, and other emergency response specialties will be viewed as an advantage.

Holding valid Light and Heavy Vehicle Driving Licenses is mandatory. Valid Qatar Light and Heavy Vehicle Driving Licenses will be considered an added advantage.
