Job description

Role Overview

As an Emergency Call Taker, you will be the crucial first point of contact during life-critical moments such as accidents, medical emergencies, or people in crisis. This position requires maintaining calm, providing reassurance, and asking pertinent questions under pressure to coordinate emergency responses effectively from the Emergency Operations Centre located in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency calls and rapidly assess situations to provide appropriate guidance.
  • Support callers emotionally during distressing and critical incidents.
  • Gather essential information to assist in dispatching emergency services swiftly and accurately.
  • Handle diverse scenarios ranging from urgent medical emergencies to non-life-threatening situations requiring advice and support.

Job Requirements

  • Applicants must be 18 years or older with the legal right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship provided).
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure environments.
  • Demonstrate empathy, confidence, resilience, and emotional awareness throughout shifts.
  • No prior medical experience is necessary as comprehensive training will be provided beginning September 2026.
  • This role requires working on-site; remote work is not available.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting wage of 3.17 per hour with enhanced pay of up to 17.78/hr for Saturdays and weekday nights and up to 22.26/hr for Sundays and bank holidays.
