About Peter Millar

Peter Millar began in 2001 with a single cashmere sweater available in 24 color options and has since developed into an American lifestyle label rooted in Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina. Its range now includes luxury performance sportswear, resort and country club collections for different seasons, refined classics, tailored clothing with a relaxed edge, and elegant accessories.

The brand focuses on enduring style enhanced by distinctive innovation, creating apparel that fits modern life. Its culture emphasizes hard work, kindness, and doing what is right for customers, with an ambition to raise the bar for the apparel industry.

Role Overview

Peter Millar is looking for a driven and inquisitive Email Marketing Specialist to join its E-Commerce team at RTP. The position plays a key part in executing and improving retention marketing programs across Email, SMS, Print, and other digital channels. The specialist will work closely with internal stakeholders, agency partners, and cross-functional teams to coordinate campaigns, support marketing operations, and make sure programs are delivered accurately and efficiently.

This role calls for strong organization, analytical judgment, collaboration, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while keeping a sharp eye on detail.

Key Responsibilities

The position includes hands-on ownership of day-to-day email production and retention-channel execution. Responsibilities include building monthly email calendars, shaping segmentation strategy, drafting creative briefs, and coordinating campaign work from copy and design through approval, coding, and launch.

You will partner with Inventory Planning to confirm product availability for featured styles, manage schedules and approvals so campaigns launch on time, and complete pre-launch QA to verify creative accuracy, links, tracking, and landing pages.

The role also involves planning, launching, and analyzing A/B tests for email and SMS, supporting the Content Manager with go-to-market planning, audience targeting, and campaign evaluation, and managing the SMS channel from planning to deployment.

Additional duties include reviewing results with agency partners, supporting technical and strategic retention projects such as triggers, CRM, Lifetime Value, and Product Reviews, and working with teams across Brand Marketing, Merchandising, Website Operations, Creative, Inventory Planning, and leadership to grow the email business. The role also requires careful proofreading, revision tracking, and regular weekly and monthly reporting to track performance and inform decisions.

Seasonal planning, documentation, workflow organization, and ad hoc support for performance marketing initiatives are also part of the job.

Competencies

  • Strong planning skills and the ability to keep multiple campaigns and deadlines organized at once
  • Comfortable building effective relationships and communicating clearly with teammates, agencies, and leadership
  • Able to perform well in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of customer segmentation and database-driven marketing
  • Creative mindset with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Problem-solving ability, resourcefulness, and initiative
  • Self-directed, accountable, and focused on results

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Fashion Merchandising, or a related discipline
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in retention marketing, including email and SMS
  • Background in e-commerce marketing within retail or wholesale settings
  • Experience using ESP platforms, CRMs, and inbox deliverability tools
  • Experience creating monthly campaign content and multi-step email automations/triggers
  • Good understanding of UI design, usability best practices, and A/B testing across email and websites on desktop, mobile, and tablet
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics and/or similar web analytics tools
  • Apparel knowledge and luxury brand experience are strongly preferred
