Elite Registered Electrician - Transitioning from Hands-On to Estimating & Sales

Job Location and Pay

This position is based in Onehunga, Auckland.

The pay rate ranges from $40 to $46 per hour depending on experience.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled New Zealand Registered Electrician with a strong background in residential electrical work, aiming to move away from physically demanding tasks towards estimating and sales roles. This opportunity blends technical expertise with customer interaction, providing a pathway to grow into sales responsibilities while still maintaining some hands-on involvement initially.

Responsibilities

• Prepare job estimates, which will form the majority of the workload.
• Engage directly with new clients via phone to collect job information and scope projects.
• Create and submit detailed quotes for approval.
• Gradually assume greater responsibility for sales through provided training.
• Occasionally assist with hands-on electrical tasks to keep skills sharp.

Candidate Profile

• Must be a current and in-good-standing NZ Registered Electrician with EWRB certification.
• Possess a minimum of five years post-registration residential experience.
• Exhibit excellent customer service skills, comfortable liaising with clients, not just colleagues.
• Hold a clean, full New Zealand driver's license.
• Have legal authorization to work in New Zealand (citizen, permanent resident, or valid work visa).
• Maintain a clean police record or be willing to undergo a background check due to client home visits.
• Demonstrate strong telephone communication skills with a welcoming and approachable personality.
• Show genuine interest and enthusiasm for transitioning into sales over time rather than merely escaping manual tasks.
