Role Overview
The Elementary School Secretary supports the school under the guidance of the Principal and handles a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks. This temporary full-time assignment runs 35 hours per week for a 10-month term, starting on August 27, 2026 and ending on November 28, 2027. The position contributes to smooth day-to-day school operations, accurate recordkeeping, and the overall well-being of students.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide secretarial support to the Principal and Vice-Principal, help organize office operations, maintain important school information, and assist with communication among staff, families, students, and the public.
Qualifications
Applicants should have completed a one-year post-secondary secretarial studies program and bring at least two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong computer skills are needed, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, student information systems, accounting tools, desktop publishing, internet and email, along with scanners and other office equipment. The role calls for someone who can manage a busy elementary school environment, stay organized under pressure, prioritize effectively, communicate clearly, and interact calmly and professionally with students. Discretion with confidential information is essential, and familiarity with Board policies and procedures for elementary schools is expected.
