Only candidates who meet the stated education, experience, and qualification requirements will move forward in the selection process.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion

YRDSB is committed to fair hiring, inclusive workplaces, and learning environments that reflect the communities they serve. The board welcomes applicants from groups that have faced historical or current barriers, including Indigenous peoples; African, Black and Black Caribbean peoples; South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern/West Asian, and Latino/Hispanic communities; people who experience discrimination based on race, ancestry, colour, religion, spiritual beliefs, or place of origin; people with visible or invisible disabilities; women; and people with marginalized sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

The board also emphasizes racial literacy, anti-racism, anti-oppression, and the creation of identity-affirming spaces.

Accommodation and accessibility

Accommodation requests are supported in accordance with the Human Rights Code. Candidates may request accommodations in advance of any stage of the hiring process. When invited to participate, applicants will receive details about the hiring steps, which may include assessments, written practicum, presentations, and interviews. Accommodation information is handled confidentially by the Recruitment and Retention Team.

For school-based LTO/contract teaching roles, accommodation requests should be made through the principal in coordination with Human Resource Services and the Disability Management Team. Current YRDSB employees with an existing accommodation through Disability Management should notify their case manager so the needs can be considered for the new role.

Additional notes

Applications are reviewed centrally at the Education Centre in Aurora. The board screens candidates against the education, experience, and qualification requirements in the posting and job description. Only applicants who meet these requirements will be contacted and invited to participate in the selection process. Internal applicants’ personnel files will also be reviewed.
