About the Role
The High Risk Offender Management Unit (HROMU) operates across Brisbane and Townsville regions, overseeing offenders under supervision orders pursuant to the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (DPSOA). This includes the electronic monitoring of parolees throughout Queensland. The unit comprises several teams: HROMU Strategic Risk and Support including the Clinical Support Unit; HROMU Operations SEQ based in Wacol, managing offenders in Brisbane and South East Queensland; and HROMU Central to Far Northern based in Townsville, managing offenders in Central and Northern regions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct supervision and electronic surveillance of offenders subject to DPSOA orders or parole conditions.
- Collaborate with community groups and external service providers as part of offender management.
- Engage in 24/7 shift work to support continuous monitoring of offenders in the community, including working outside standard hours and occasional travel.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience with supervision and surveillance in human services or related sectors.
- Background in criminal justice environments or similar regulatory/human services agencies.
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse individuals and groups.
- Strong knowledge and interpretation of relevant legislation, policies, and procedural frameworks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and manage relationships.
- Sound judgment, conflict resolution capabilities, and maturity.
- Confidence, flexibility, resilience, and effective negotiation skills.
- Competent at risk identification and using computer systems efficiently.
Mandatory Requirements
- Successful completion of internal pre-service training and ongoing professional development specific to the role.
- Possession of a valid C Class driver's license.
Additional Information
- The position is shift-based to enable round-the-clock offender monitoring, with applicable shift penalties.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours and to travel or temporarily work from alternate locations as required.
