Job description

Role overview

The Electrician-Assessor is responsible for hands-on electrical maintenance, modification, and repair work on military equipment, carried out in line with technical manuals and U.S. Air Force standards. The role covers support at the organization, intermediate, and direct support levels.

Key duties

  • Carry out a range of electrical trade tasks, including installing, maintaining, and repairing power generation, distribution, and utilization equipment.
  • Help the team resolve maintenance issues through troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Prepare and keep the government-required records and job packets needed for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Test, refurbish, overhaul, adjust, and service specialized electrical systems such as alternator synchronizing units, amplifying control units, voltage regulators, generators, switching panels, control panels, and junction boxes.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, and other technical specifications.
  • Identify electrical faults, trace the source of problems, and fix system deficiencies.
  • Perform standard load calculations for wiring and electrical equipment.
  • Use electrician hand tools along with measuring, diagnostic, and testing equipment.
  • Research required materials, request supplies, and prepare supporting documentation and reports.
  • Maintain and repair electrical distribution systems in buildings and industrial facilities.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using technical manuals and electronic technical manuals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical system maintenance, repair, and testing.
  • Journeyman or Master electrician license is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret building diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA-40 is required.
  • Familiarity with the British Electrical Code is preferred.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license is required.
  • Valid U.S. passport is preferred.
  • Must meet all current USCENTCOM deployment policy requirements under APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN to the USCENTCOM individual and individual-unit deployment policy.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid residency visa for Qatar.
  • Should be able to work in harsh conditions, including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to handle long working hours and exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Must hold and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Travel is 100% in a deployed location.
