Role overview
This position involves supporting the Facilities Management Maintenance Team across several buildings for a commercial client. The post is located in the Sandyford/Leopardstown area and follows a 39-hour weekly rota, scheduled between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance on site equipment, including emergency lighting, distribution boards, PAT testing, and lighting control systems.
- Diagnose faults as they occur, and escalate to the appropriate manager or department when a repair cannot be completed on site.
- Take a proactive approach to spotting maintenance issues and resolving them to keep equipment running efficiently.
- Work with the client CAFM system, updating tasks promptly so they can be completed and closed out; full training will be provided.
- Support subcontractors when required.
- Help with queries related to quotations and purchasing.
- Use the CAFM software to maintain clear and accurate records; training on the system will be provided.
- Identify and source spare parts and, where relevant, supplier pricing to help keep systems operational.
- Follow all legal and site requirements relating to health and safety, environmental standards, and quality.
- Support safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement objectives.
- Carry out ad hoc repairs and project work when needed.
- Complete assigned training promptly and remain open to continuing professional development requirements.
- Learn the relevant site systems needed to perform the role safely and effectively.
- Adapt flexibly to changing site, client, and business needs.
- Represent the company professionally and maintain a neat appearance.
- Wear issued uniforms appropriately in an office environment.
- Keep company tools and plant in safe condition, and report any defects to a supervisor.
- Be prepared to handle non-electrical tasks when necessary to support team goals.
- Use personal protective equipment correctly and report any defects or additional PPE needs.
- Carry out any other duties required to support business efficiency.
Required qualifications and experience
- Must be a qualified electrician.
- At least 5 years of maintenance experience in a comparable role and environment.
Advantageous qualifications
- SOLAS Safe Pass.
- Qualified Certifier (QC) or C&G verification certificate.
- Health and safety qualifications such as IOSH, or documented H&S training.
- FETAC Level 6 Emergency Lighting Commissioner's certificate.
- RGII registration or equivalent qualification.
- QQI FGAS certificate(s).
- C&G Portable Appliance Tester certificate.
- High-voltage/medium-voltage experience or credentials such as a C&G HV AP Certificate.
- ECDL or other basic IT qualifications, such as Microsoft certifications.
- Additional engineering qualifications at QQI Level 6, 7, 8, or 9; equivalent non-Irish qualifications aligned to the Bologna framework will also be accepted.
- Relevant non-engineering or health and safety qualifications recognised by QQI, or supporting experience.
- A full clean driving licence, as travel to other sites within the contract may be needed.
Work schedule
The role is based on a 39-hour week with shifts rostered between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm from Monday to Friday.
