Job description
Position Overview
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is looking for student graders as staffing needs come up across the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 terms.
Role Summary
This role focuses on evaluating homework and other assignments completed by students in a range of EECS classes. Weekly hours will vary based on course enrollment.
Required Qualifications
- You must currently be a student in EECS or a closely related field.
- You need to have earned at least a B in the EECS course, or an equivalent class, that you will support.
- Your KU GPA must remain at 3.0 or higher.
Student Hourly Enrollment Requirements
While the appointment is active during the semester, you must be registered for at least 6 credit hours. For summer terms, eligibility requires one of the following: having taken at least 6 hours in the previous spring, being pre-enrolled for at least 6 hours in the upcoming fall, being enrolled in a summer session, or being admitted for the upcoming fall semester. Both undergraduate and graduate students may serve in this role. Exceptions that apply to GRA/GTA/GA appointments do not apply here.
Employment Conditions
- Remote work is not normally allowed for student employees unless the unit leadership and HR grant an exception.
- This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
- A student may not simultaneously hold this hourly role and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate appointment such as GRA, GTA, GA, RUA, or RGA.
Application Instructions
To complete the application, you must submit the online form and clearly specify which courses you are qualified to grade and want to support. Be sure to include both the course number and course title, for example, EECS 388 Embedded Systems.
Hiring Process
This is a pooled hiring opportunity for multiple grader openings. Review starts right away, and applications will be considered continuously during the academic year for Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027. Only one application is needed for each academic semester.
