Role Summary
The Department of War Education Activity is seeking an Education Research Analyst in Alexandria, VA to support rigorous K-12 education research and evaluation work. This position focuses on using advanced quantitative methods to answer important questions in education science, policy, and practice that align with DoDEA’s mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities
The analyst will plan, review, and oversee research efforts, carry out education research and evaluation studies, and analyze resulting data with advanced statistical techniques. The role also involves preparing written materials that explain findings for different audiences and advising DoDEA colleagues on research, evaluation, and statistics-related matters.
Professional Scope
This is a hands-on analytical role with a strong emphasis on methodological rigor, statistical interpretation, reporting, and collaboration. The position works closely with internal teams and may involve cross-functional coordination with educators, policymakers, researchers, and other stakeholders.
Eligibility and Qualification Requirements
Only U.S. citizens may apply. Candidates must meet both the basic education requirement and the specialized experience requirement. The role requires either a bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 semester hours in a related field, including at least one course in research methods and at least two courses in statistics, or a qualifying combination of education and experience that demonstrates the same foundation. Applicants must also show one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent, including designing and managing qualitative or quantitative studies or program evaluations, using advanced statistical tools, producing reports and visualizations, making evidence-based recommendations, advising leadership, and managing cross-functional initiatives.
Conditions of Employment
Applicants must comply with Selective Service requirements if applicable, provide proof of U.S. citizenship, agree to direct deposit, and may be required to complete a one-year trial or probationary period. Final selection is also subject to a suitability and fitness determination through a background investigation.

Education Notes
