Job description
Overview
The City of Farmington Hills is looking for a part-time Education Coordinator to support the Youth Center’s after-school programming in Farmington, MI. The role focuses on helping staff run daily activities, assisting with planning, and keeping program operations organized.
Start Date and Schedule
The position is expected to begin as soon as possible. This is a part-time role for 20 to 30 hours per week, with the exact schedule arranged between the selected applicant and the Recreation Specialist. Availability is required during program hours from Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, along with additional office time for planning.
Key Duties
- Assist Youth Program staff with day-to-day after-school program operations.
- Help plan and lead activities offered during the program.
- Support the team with documentation, reporting, and enforcement of program rules and policies.
- Share updates on planning progress and program performance with the Youth Programmer.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or a higher level of education is required. A college degree or coursework in a related field is preferred. Prior experience working with youth, whether in structured or informal settings, is also preferred.
Skills and Training
Preferred training includes CPR and First Aid certification. For some specific programs, an Archery Instructor Level 1 certification or above is optional.
