Duty Manager

About the role

Star Group is hiring a Duty Manager for Goode Brothers - Bethlehem, a Kiwi-Italian gastropub in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. The venue combines Italian-inspired flavours with a relaxed New Zealand feel, and this role is suited to someone who enjoys working in a lively hospitality environment with a strong customer focus.

What you’ll do

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of busy shifts, helping the team deliver consistently high service standards while keeping operations on track. The role calls for a hands-on leader who can balance customer service, team support, and operational awareness.

• Lead responsible shifts in a fast-moving gastropub setting.
• Support the team to maintain a welcoming atmosphere and quality service.
• Use your number skills and attention to detail to help manage day-to-day shift requirements.
• Work closely with the crew to ensure service runs smoothly and standards stay high.
• Look after compliance expectations linked to licensing and responsible service.
• Contribute positively to a close-knit team environment.

What we’re looking for

This position is best suited to an energetic and motivated hospitality professional who can step in and perform confidently. Prior duty management experience and a current licence are important, along with a strong understanding of licensing rules.

• A current Duty Manager’s License.
• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
• Up-to-date knowledge of licensing regulations.
• Strong leadership ability in a hospitality environment.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Confidence with numbers and operational responsibilities.
• A commitment to delivering consistently good service.
