Role overview
Star Group is looking for 3 Assistant Business Leaders to join its Bay of Plenty network in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. This position suits someone who is ready to step up and contribute meaningfully to the local hospitality scene.
The role calls for at least 2 years of experience in a management role and confidence working in a high-pressure hospitality setting. The schedule is flexible and follows a 7-day roster, which includes weekends and late-night shifts. A strong focus on delivering reliable, high-quality customer service is essential.
Key duties
Day-to-day, you will oversee cash-up completion, manage opening and closing checklists, and make sure health and safety requirements are consistently followed. You will also monitor hazard and incident reporting, handle customer complaints and escalate issues when needed, and work closely with the Head Chef on menu compliance and costing.
Leadership expectations
To succeed in this position, you will need a minimum of 2 years in management, along with experience delegating work, coaching, and training BOH and FOH staff toward shared goals. Maintaining strong standards across food quality, service, and safety in a busy restaurant environment is a key part of the job.
Compensation and work pattern
The salary for this role is between $27.60 and $34.20 per hour. A minimum of 45 hours of work per week is expected.
