Role overview
Careline Lifestyles is hiring a caring and motivated Domestic Cleaner for its care home in Jarrow, based at Deneside Court. This is a permanent, full-time, on-site position offering a pay rate of £13.04.
Purpose of the role
The role focuses on maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and a presentable environment throughout the home. You will help support residents’ quality of life by working respectfully, protecting privacy and dignity, and looking after belongings with care. The position also requires adherence to the home’s internal policies and the standards of conduct expected in social care settings.
Main duties
- Carry out thorough cleaning across all rooms, including furnishings, fixtures, windows, soft furnishings, carpets, and equipment.
- Clean toilets and other sanitary items carefully, following infection-control guidance at all times.
- Handle waste correctly and make sure it is disposed of in line with procedures.
- Work safely, follow health and safety rules, and report any faulty item to management so it is taken out of use.
- Use cleaning supplies and equipment efficiently and avoid unnecessary waste.
- Support risk assessments and help ensure any agreed actions are completed.
- Take responsibility for health and safety concerns, including alerting the team to hazards affecting yourself or others.
- Store and use cleaning products correctly in accordance with COSHH requirements.
- Read notices and communications, sign where required, and follow instructions given.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and avoid sharing information about the company, residents, or work matters with unauthorised people.
- Attend staff and resident meetings and take part in training sessions as directed, whether on-site or elsewhere.
- Escalate any concerns or urgent situations to management without delay.
- Remain adaptable and support residents by helping with additional tasks when reasonably needed.
