About the Role
NEFCO is a rapidly expanding distributor of construction supplies that supports contractors with the products, expertise, and service needed to keep projects on track. The company is hiring a District Sales Manager to guide a team of Outside Sales Representatives and deliver profitable growth across a defined territory in Tennessee.
This position is suited to an experienced sales leader who enjoys developing people, strengthening customer relationships, finding new business opportunities, and putting sales plans into action. The role also plays an important part in linking sales activity with branch operations and building market presence.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead district sales execution, develop talent, support operational alignment, and represent the business to customers and partners.
- Coach and manage Outside Sales Representatives so the district meets or exceeds targets for sales, gross profit, and market share.
- Create and implement district-level sales plans that support organic growth and bring in new customers.
- Identify ways to deepen business within current accounts while actively pursuing new opportunities.
- Spend time in the field through customer visits, joint calls, and ride-alongs to provide guidance and accountability.
- Work with sales reps on territory planning, key account strategies, and growth initiatives.
- Maintain a visible field presence through meetings with prospects and relationship-building with customers.
- Encourage use of the company’s digital platforms and e-commerce tools.
- Coordinate with vendor partners for joint calls, product education, and business development opportunities.
- Track sales activity, CRM usage, pipeline health, and performance results.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain strong sales talent.
- Foster a team culture built on accountability, coaching, and ongoing improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and support career development discussions.
- Mentor future sales leaders and provide continuous training.
- Promote the company’s values and customer-first mindset across the district.
- Collaborate with Branch Managers and Operations Leaders to ensure excellent service and execution.
- Align branch priorities with district sales objectives and customer expectations.
- Support margin improvement, inventory control, delivery performance, and overall efficiency.
- Work with leadership on staffing, training, and process improvement needs.
- Keep communication flowing smoothly between outside sales, inside sales, and operations teams.
- Act as a trusted contact for important customers and strategic accounts.
- Help resolve customer concerns and service issues while preserving strong relationships.
- Support collections and account management tasks when needed.
- Build product knowledge and a solid understanding of market opportunities.
- Represent the company professionally with customers, vendors, and industry partners.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the district.
- Ensure team members follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Lead by example in making safety a core value.
- Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions when required.

Requirements
- At least 5 years of successful outside sales leadership experience, ideally in construction supply, industrial distribution, building materials, or a similar field.
- A demonstrated history of managing teams and delivering profitable sales growth.
- Strong abilities in coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Experience building new business and managing strategic customer relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Solid business judgment with the ability to review sales results and market potential.
- Comfort using CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and sales reporting tools.
- Willingness to travel frequently throughout the assigned district.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, though equivalent industry experience may be accepted.
