Job Description
The primary purpose of this role is to oversee safety alerts from all mine equipment using available systems. This position serves as the central communication hub between operations, maintenance supervisors, and employees regarding safety dispatching.
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Proactively manage fatigue events for the rigid dump truck fleet, assessing severity and taking appropriate action.
- Monitor and report field of view exceptions for sensors to technicians, ensuring adherence to procedures.
- Contribute to a safe shift by managing hourly safety broadcasts, monitoring weather and lightning alerts, and tracking blasting activities and road conditions.
- Oversee speed compliance for light and medium vehicles.
- Support the maintenance dispatcher by flagging equipment exceptions in Mine care.
- Coordinate safety emergency incidents and accidents with the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and report to senior mining management.
- Track Pantograph faults, report them to Maintenance, and record the number of machines reported and fixed per shift for continuous improvement.
- Conduct live monitoring using DSS, Geotab, Tyre sense, and 360 systems.
- Disseminate lightning alerts across all communication channels.
- Record all equipment pre-start checks, including any defects or faults.
- Track and report speeding events to the relevant Supervisor.
- Monitor radar alerts and provide critical alarm information to Geotech personnel.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of all equipment and personnel safety data in collaboration with the dispatch team.
- Assist the dispatching team in maintaining accurate and up-to-date data, including any necessary maintenance dispatch tasks.
- Attend all review meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Minimum Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Certification of competence for relevant mining dispatch systems.
- At least 2 years of practical experience in an open-pit mining environment.
- Previous experience with dispatch systems is advantageous.
- All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA.
