About the Role
Shared Health, overseeing the coordination and integration of patient-focused clinical and preventive health services throughout Manitoba, is seeking a Dispatcher to join the Shared Health team at St. Boniface Hospital. This role involves managing requests for deliveries and pickups related to medical supplies and various services, dispatching personnel such as porters and messengers, addressing immediate issues with problem-solving skills, and undertaking clerical responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, record, and process requests for delivery or collection of supplies, equipment, courier services, specimens, x-rays, and requisitions.
- Coordinate and dispatch porters, messengers, and supply attendants to fulfill delivery and pickup requests.
- Resolve any immediate operational challenges as they arise.
- Perform receptionist and administrative tasks including updating unit orders and compiling statistics.
- Assign tasks to staff effectively and undertake other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent certification.
- Minimum six months of relevant office experience plus six months working with medical or surgical supplies, or alternatively six months of experience in a Messenger role.
- Proficiency in data entry at a minimum rate of 65 numerical keystrokes per minute.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems.
- Strong English language communication skills including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
- Clear handwriting and polite phone etiquette.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision with strong accuracy and confidentiality.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
