Job description

Role overview

This position is for a dependable, well-organized dishwasher who enjoys being part of a team and working in a busy restaurant setting. The job centers on keeping kitchen and dining items clean, dry, and stored properly while helping the restaurant stay ready throughout the day.

Key duties

  • Collect dirty dishware, prep tubs, pans, utensils, and other cookware from the kitchen, then wash, dry, and store everything in the correct place.
  • Get dining and kitchen areas ready for the next shift by cleaning and restocking cook stations.
  • Clean kitchen equipment and appliances such as ovens, makeline equipment, and the cut table.
  • Keep the dish pit neat, orderly, and safe.
  • Help unload deliveries and put stock away.
  • Sweep and mop floors, especially after spills.
  • Remove trash and rinse out garbage cans.
  • Support restaurant teammates with additional tasks whenever needed.
  • Report any kitchen accidents or food-safety issues immediately.
  • Make sure the dining area is prepared for opening, closing, and regular business hours.
  • Set up the kitchen line before rush periods and reset the kitchen for the next day at close.

What the job requires

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a reliable team player, and someone who manages time well in a fast-moving environment. You should be able to prioritize tasks, follow food-safety rules carefully, and take pride in maintaining a clean workspace. Minimal work experience is needed because training is provided on the job. A Texas Certified Food Handlers Certificate is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is helpful but not mandatory.

Work environment

This role involves handling a large volume of dishes and cookware, including sharp items that must be washed and stored safely. The restaurant environment is warm, busy, and may be noisy. The dish area can be wet and slippery, and the workplace includes conveyor-belt ovens, warming shelves, and carts on wheels, so care is needed to avoid injury.
