Role overview
A major construction business specializing in commercial work is adding a new senior leadership position in the New York City metropolitan area. The role is designed as a progression point toward the Chief Operating Officer track for the right candidate.
In this position, you would first take ownership of project management performance across the NY Metro region and then expand into wider operational leadership as the business grows. The opportunity sits at the start of a planned growth phase, so the remit is expected to broaden alongside the region.
The organization is looking for someone who can set performance standards, help build and develop the leadership bench, and oversee the commercial discipline of the function. Rather than focusing only on delivery for individual projects, this role carries responsibility for the commercial performance of the broader region and for creating the structure that supports continued scale.
The company views the path to COO as part of the role’s design, not as a distant possibility.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant brings deep construction project management and/or operations experience in New York City, preferably on the contractor side. You should have led at the Senior Project Manager and Project Executive level, with experience managing other managers.
Strong commercial judgment and financial understanding are essential, along with prior accountability for profitability at the function or regional level rather than only at individual project level. The role also calls for a leader with the presence and ambition to step into broader operational responsibility over time.
