Overview
WSP is seeking an experienced Associate Director or Director in Structures to lead teams, strengthen client relationships, support business growth, and help deliver building structures projects in Auckland. This role sits within the Property and Buildings sector and is suited to an established or emerging leader who can balance technical delivery, people leadership, and commercial responsibility.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the Building Structures team within the Property and Buildings sector.
- Support the Head of Structures in delivering the business plan and broader strategic objectives for the sector.
- Build strong client relationships, actively pursue opportunities, and help secure new work.
- Support the technical growth of Structural Engineers based mainly in Auckland, with occasional support across other regional offices.
- Serve as Project Manager or Project Director on assigned work and ensure outcomes align with client priorities.
- Guide project teams so delivery is on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality and profit expectations.
- Oversee project administration, including client reporting, invoicing, and use of accounting, records, and quality systems.
- Plan and coordinate buildings engineering activities, including cross-team collaboration, to meet technical, financial, programme, and client goals.
- Advise the structures group on training needs, resourcing, quality assurance, and deliverables.
About you
- You hold a tertiary qualification in Structural Engineering, Project Delivery, or a closely related field.
- You have Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or an equivalent credential.
- You bring at least 10 years of experience in buildings engineering, including substantial seismic experience.
- You have deep senior project management experience and a strong commercial mindset.
- You can build client pipelines and identify opportunities across the sector.
- You have a proven record of developing productive client relationships.
- You are confident leading and managing teams.
Time allocation
The expected split of your time is approximately:
- Project and technical delivery: 60%
- People management: 20%
- Client and business development: 20%
