Job description
About the role
EY is seeking a Manager to join its International Tax and Transaction Services team, supporting complex and high-profile deals across the market. In this role, you will work alongside experienced professionals and major organisations, contributing to tax advice that helps shape transaction outcomes and business growth. The position offers exposure to a broad mix of projects, strong learning opportunities, and the chance to build a career within a globally connected environment.
The team values integrity, respect, collaboration, and diverse perspectives. While Auckland is the preferred base, candidates with the right background located in Wellington or Christchurch are also encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities
- Direct multidisciplinary teams supporting clients on buy-side and sell-side deals, restructuring assignments, and international tax advisory work.
- Carry out tax due diligence, identify potential risks and opportunities, and produce clear reports and structuring documents.
- Advise clients on tax implications related to deal structuring, modelling, and post-transaction integration while keeping commercial goals in focus.
- Assist with business development by creating presentations, joining client discussions, and applying strong knowledge of client industries.
- Help develop junior team members, encourage teamwork, and maintain high standards of quality and risk control.
Skills and experience
- Substantial background in tax consulting, ideally gained in a top-tier accounting firm or a comparable setting, with strong experience in international tax, transaction advisory, and due diligence.
- Experience with large corporate income tax compliance, particularly for businesses with international operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complicated tax matters in a clear and practical way.
- Proven project management ability, including managing budgets, projects, and people while consistently delivering high-quality results.
- A cooperative and forward-thinking approach, with attention to detail, a positive mindset, and enthusiasm for relationship building and continuous learning.
- A relevant qualification such as Law, Accounting, or Finance is preferred, and professional credentials such as CPA are an advantage.
- Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to ongoing development are essential.
What EY offers
- Strong career development support, with access to future-focused learning and global experiences.
- Flexible working arrangements designed to support balance and autonomy.
- A broad benefits package that includes a yearly wellness incentive, up to 8 additional weeks of flex leave each year, and family-friendly policies such as up to 26 weeks of gender-neutral paid parental leave.
- An inclusive workplace that welcomes applicants of all ages, nationalities, abilities, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
- A confidential and equitable recruitment process, with support available for candidates who need adjustments.
