Director - Parts Operations for Heavy Construction Equipment

A well-established heavy construction equipment dealership operating from multiple locations is seeking a Director to lead its parts division across a broad regional area, primarily based in Illinois. This senior leadership role entails comprehensive responsibility for the commercial and operational success of the parts department. The appointed Director will collaborate closely with executive management to boost revenue, enhance inventory management, strengthen supplier partnerships, and cultivate a high-performing team. Key Duties

• Direct all facets of the parts business spanning various branches.
• Own the strategies for inventory control, forecasting, procurement, pricing, and ensuring stock availability.
• Mentor and develop Parts Managers and branch personnel to establish uniformity and high standards across all locations.
• Partner with service, sales, and executive leadership teams to align parts operations with customer needs and organizational goals.
• Enhance relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and principal suppliers to optimize pricing, availability, and operational outcomes.
• Lead initiatives to improve gross margins, inventory turnover rates, fill rates, and overall operational efficiency.
• Manage warranty processes, returns, core inventory, and supplier programs effectively.
• Develop and refine systems, reporting frameworks, key performance indicators (KPIs), and procedural workflows to support anticipated growth.
• Travel regularly among branches to support teams and uphold high operational standards.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated leadership experience in the parts department of a heavy construction equipment dealership.
• Current or prior roles as a Parts Director, Regional Parts Manager, or an advanced Senior Parts Manager prepared for director-level responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in inventory management, procurement, demand forecasting, vendor negotiations, and commercial analytics.
• Experience managing multi-site teams across multiple locations.
• Ability to influence strategic planning and operational execution.
• Exceptional leadership capabilities including coaching and talent development.
• Proficient with contemporary ERP, inventory tracking, and reporting systems.
• Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
