Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site leadership position in Georgetown, Ontario, focused on directing all transportation activities for Kuthala Transport. The Director of Transportation will guide the planning and day-to-day execution of trucking operations, including dispatch, route planning, scheduling, and load planning for truckload, LTL, intermodal, and cross-border movements.
The position is accountable for maintaining compliance with transportation regulations, upholding safety expectations, improving service quality, and overseeing fleet performance, maintenance coordination, and asset utilization. The role also involves building and managing transportation budgets, tracking performance indicators, and introducing process improvements that strengthen efficiency and profitability.
In addition, the Director will work closely with internal departments and customers to address service concerns, support strategic priorities, and help drive the long-term expansion of the transportation business.
Qualifications
- Ability to plan transportation networks and manage operations so that routes, schedules, and workflows remain efficient.
- Hands-on experience with fleet oversight, including maintenance planning, asset use, safety adherence, and performance tracking.
- Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to maintain relationships, manage expectations, and resolve service concerns quickly and professionally.
- Experience with budgeting and cost control, including review of operating results and support for profit goals.
- Multiple years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations, preferably in trucking or fleet-based environments.
- Working knowledge of transportation laws, safety requirements, and North American cross-border compliance.
- Strong analytical and decision-making ability, with comfort using data and KPIs to identify improvements.
- Effective communication and team leadership skills, with experience managing varied teams and promoting accountability and safety.
- Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, business administration, or a related area is preferred, although equivalent experience may also be considered.
