The successful candidate must have profound technical insight into drone platforms, including quadcopters, multi-rotors, and fixed-wing aircraft, coupled with proven experience securing and managing high-value vendor partnerships. Key Responsibilities
- Actively scout and establish in-person contacts with new, high-quality component vendors globally.
- Lead negotiations involving complex technical projects, service agreements, and pricing with top-tier suppliers.
- Manage supplier relationships focusing on performance metrics, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to understand and align with precise technical components and specifications of drone platforms.
- Select and source technical components such as brushless motors, ESCs, flight controllers, carbon fiber elements, payloads, and communication devices.
- Identify and address component sourcing risks by establishing alternate qualified suppliers.
- Streamline manufacturing pipelines to support high-volume production without downtime due to component shortages.
- Enhance internal logistics, inventory, and warehousing systems to ensure just-in-time delivery of components.
- Establish, monitor, and take responsibility for key performance indicators related to supply chain predictability and delivery timelines.
Required Skills and Attributes
- In-depth component expertise related to drone hardware including aerostructures, propulsion, avionics, power distribution, and RF systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documents to coordinate with vendor capabilities.
- Experience in designing and managing global logistics and customs compliance, especially with defense-related technology and hardware.
- High-level negotiation skills combined with strong technical knowledge and business development instincts.
- Willingness to travel extensively to vendor sites, establish supplier relationships, and perform facility audits.
- Excellent communication skills to influence executives externally and lead logistics internally.
- A decisive problem-solver who thrives under production deadlines and takes ownership of supply chain challenges.
Experience and Education
- Over 7 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or technical business development within UAS manufacturing or related industries.
- Demonstrated hands-on familiarity with UAS components and technologies for more than 7 years.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industrial experience.
