Job description
About Wierd(A)dvisory
Wierd(A)dvisory is a boutique consulting firm focused on innovative problem-solving and strategic advisory tailored to diverse industries. We collaborate deeply with senior executives from top-tier corporations and breakthrough disruptors, navigating complex challenges with an emphasis on bespoke, craft-driven solutions rather than conventional frameworks. Our workplace champions craftsmanship, diversity in thought, and creating spaces where exceptional talents flourish.
Role Overview
This leadership position is distinct from traditional strategy or service design roles. It involves undertaking impactful and complex strategic challenges, delivered through intentional, hands-on craftsmanship. Typical problems addressed include launching groundbreaking products into unprepared markets, restructuring decision-making frameworks in systems, steering leadership teams through politically charged environments, and interpreting fast-evolving industries.
As a Director, you will manage multiple significant projects across various sectors, leading high-stakes workshops and strategic programs marked by deliberate design, authoritative presence, and insightful, real-time challenge of thinking. The role requires operating confidently alongside C-suite executives.
Why Join Us?
- Competitive compensation with opportunities for growth.
- A culture that prioritizes employee well-being and supports exceptional work quality.
- Flexible remote work arrangements complemented by occasional in-person team gatherings in Toronto.
- A start-up atmosphere encouraging meaningful dialogue and collaboration, free from bureaucratic constraints.
- Engagements that include socially impactful projects and pro bono contributions to system-level issues.
Required Qualifications
- Legal authorization to work in Canada (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit).
- A bachelor's degree is mandatory, and a graduate degree in STEM, business, foresight, humanities, design, or related fields is preferred, with emphasis on skills and continuous learning over institutional prestige.
- Between 10 to 15+ years of relevant professional experience, potentially from consulting, strategy, transformation, stakeholder engagement, design, or planning backgrounds; entrepreneurial experience is valued.
- Extensive direct experience engaging senior and C-suite leaders, with proven trust-building capability in high-level enterprise settings.
- Proven expertise in facilitating and designing intensive, outcome-oriented workshops integral to strategic work.
- Demonstrated fluency in foresight, interdisciplinary research, strategic design, and transformational change, grounded in practical application.
- Adaptability across industries, with added advantage for healthcare, life sciences, or regulated sectors; rapid learning and credible engagement across domains is essential.
- Possession of a valid passport and willingness to travel domestically within the GTA and internationally across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Recruitment Process
The selection includes stages such as virtual interviews, panel discussions, a practical case exercise, and a final in-person interview in Toronto. Communication will be prompt and transparent throughout the process.
Application Instructions
Applicants should submit a unique infographic slide that introduces who they are, their distinctive approach, and the most critical future truth often overlooked (excluding AI), along with their resume and a professional profile link. Cover letters are not required.
Email submissions to hiring@wierdadvisory.com.
Work Environment and Location
While the team is based in downtown Toronto and values occasional onsite collaboration, regular office presence is not mandatory. The role embraces flexible internet-enabled collaboration, welcoming applicants from outside the Toronto area as the job suitability is not restricted by geography.
