About the Role
A leading General Contractor in the Columbus metropolitan area is seeking a Director to lead and expand its self-perform operations focused on commercial and multifamily construction projects. This senior management role commands oversight of field operations, workforce strategy, safety, profitability, and growth initiatives across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all self-perform operations including workforce planning, field execution, safety compliance, and productivity management.
- Manage Superintendents, Foremen, and craftspeople teams across several active construction sites.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the Self Perform Group while ensuring operational excellence.
- Collaborate with Operations, Preconstruction, and Executive teams to support project pursuits and execution.
- Enhance labor productivity, scheduling, quality control, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
- Create workforce plans, spearhead recruitment efforts, and foster employee retention programs.
- Ensure adherence to company safety standards and industry best practices.
- Monitor financial metrics including labor budgets, equipment use, and overall profitability.
- Mentor and cultivate future field leadership within the organization.
- Establish and maintain relationships with owners, trade partners, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years experience in commercial construction with a General Contractor.
- Proven leadership managing self-perform construction operations.
- Experience supervising large craft labor teams, Superintendents, and Foremen.
- Preferred expertise in self-performed concrete, carpentry, interiors, sitework, or related trades.
- Strong knowledge of scheduling, labor productivity, project controls, and field operations.
- Track record of overseeing multiple projects and teams concurrently.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience in scaling construction operations is highly advantageous.
