Role Overview
The company is searching for a commercially astute and strategic Director of Sales to lead its Enterprise and Mid-Market sales teams in Australia. Serving as the senior leader locally, this role functions as both sales leader and general manager for the Australian market, responsible for overall regional growth, reputation, and results.
The position involves management of the sales team while collaborating closely with other local cross-functional teams like Customer Success, Support, Implementation, and Sales Development, whose line managers are based overseas. You'll align and influence across these groups to ensure a smooth, unified experience for Australian customers, reporting directly to the VP & GM International in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Attentive’s commercial operations in Australia, owning sales results, market presence, and strategic initiatives.
- Function as a regional leader by proactively addressing risks, identifying opportunities, and optimizing operational processes within APAC.
- Manage and guide the sales team towards consistently achieving or surpassing revenue objectives.
- Craft and implement sales strategies tailored to the Australian and broader APAC regions, aligning with global business goals.
- Oversee the shift from a single-product SMS focus to a comprehensive multi-product platform including SMS, Email, and AI solutions.
- Maintain expert knowledge of Attentive’s offerings, competitors, and market trends to effectively position solutions.
- Implement disciplined processes for forecasting, pipeline oversight, and deal reviews.
- Foster a culture emphasizing accountability, coaching, and continuous growth within the sales team.
- Collaborate with Australia-based functional teams to influence priorities and maintain seamless customer experiences across departments.
- Act as the main coordination point locally, linking global leadership with on-ground teams for aligned prioritization and resource allocation.
- Build and nurture executive relationships with key clients and strategic accounts in Australia and APAC.
- Represent Attentive at industry forums, client meetings, and in the wider market to enhance brand recognition and develop business pipelines.
- Serve as the primary escalation contact and decision-maker for day-to-day regional issues.
- Provide regional insights and market intelligence to support company-wide strategic planning and investments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 8 years in B2B enterprise SaaS sales, with at least 3 years in senior leadership overseeing quota-bearing sales teams.
- Proven capacity to lead beyond sales, influencing cross-functional teams within complex matrixed organizations to drive regional success.
- Demonstrated track record in developing and executing sales plans that meet ambitious growth targets.
- Experience managing multi-product sales or transitioning sales teams from single products to platform selling is highly advantageous.
- Strong executive presence with a capability to build and maintain relationships with C-level executives and senior stakeholders.
- Skilled in building, coaching, and scaling high-performing sales organizations prioritizing accountability and development.
- Excellent analytical and operational skills with focus on pipeline management, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.
- Commercially astute with strategic thinking on market positioning, competitive dynamics, and growth drivers.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, able to influence all organization levels.
- In-depth knowledge of the Australian enterprise and mid-market environment and buyer behaviors is a substantial benefit.
Company Values
- Default to Action - Move decisively and purposefully.
- Be One Unstoppable Team - Support and champion each other.
- Champion the Customer - Success is defined by customer outcomes.
- Act Like an Owner - Take responsibility for overall company success.
