Role Overview
The Director of Safety & Training leads SpartanX’s safety initiatives, training programs, and workforce development across all departments. This executive role ensures safety is ingrained as a standard practice, overseeing policy development, compliance, onboarding, technical and leadership training, and continuous education for both field and office employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage SpartanX’s comprehensive safety program.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Perform safety audits, field observations, and jobsite inspections regularly.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, implementing corrective actions promptly.
- Track and analyze safety KPIs, incident reports, and compliance data.
- Maintain all mandated safety documentation and regulatory records.
- Collaborate with leadership to embed a proactive safety culture company-wide.
- Develop and update onboarding and role-specific training for all employees.
- Lead technical training for installers, electricians, technicians, inspectors, and operations staff.
- Create leadership development programs for supervisors and managers.
- Organize ongoing education, certification, and compliance training initiatives.
- Assess training effectiveness and refine programs continually.
- Work alongside Operations, Construction, Service, Electrical, HR, and Executive teams to standardize procedures and support new market expansion.
- Maintain and oversee training records and certification tracking.
- Assist in workforce planning and growth strategies.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the safety and training teams.
- Set departmental objectives, performance metrics, and ensure accountability.
- Report on safety and training updates to executive leadership.
- Champion continuous improvement, professionalism, and a culture of accountability.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in construction, electrical, or solar operations.
- Deep understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Skilled in developing and delivering employee training programs.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Experience conducting safety audits and incident investigations.
- Effective communicator with field staff, managers, and executives.
- Strong public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and training management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the solar industry.
- OSHA 30 certification required; OSHA 500 or OSHA Outreach Trainer certifications preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Instructor certification favored.
- Proven ability to develop company-wide safety manuals and SOPs.
- Experience managing operations across multiple states.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred.
