Job description

About the Role

CFGI is hiring a forward-thinking Director of Resource Management to shape and run the firm’s resource allocation capability across a growing mix of client engagements. This is a high-impact position that connects people deployment, project delivery, and broader firm strategy by making sure the right talent is assigned to the right work at the right time.

This is a unique chance to create the function from scratch. You will put the systems, tools, and operating model in place that support CFGI’s delivery engine, and as the business expands, you will also build and manage the team underneath this role.

What You’ll Own

  • Lead the full resource management lifecycle for the firm, covering staffing strategy, capacity planning, and assignment of resources across both current and upcoming engagements.
  • Act as the main administrator and advanced user for the staffing system, including Salesforce and/or Retain, while safeguarding data quality, forecast reliability, and useful reporting.
  • Create and keep improving a forward-looking capacity plan that identifies staffing shortfalls early and informs business development discussions.
  • Work closely with Practice Leads, Engagement Managers, and senior leaders to align talent deployment with client demands, employee growth objectives, and firm-wide priorities.
  • Build and roll out scalable staffing workflows, standard operating procedures, and playbooks that can support growth in headcount and engagement volume.
  • Track and present core workforce measures such as utilization, bench time, deployment rates, and pipeline coverage to executive leadership.
  • Advise leaders on workforce planning, staffing economics, and risks tied to resource allocation.
  • Hire, onboard, and manage a staffing operations team as the function grows into a fully developed Resource Management group.

What You Must Bring

  • At least 8 years of experience in resource management, staffing operations, or workforce planning, preferably in professional services or consulting.
  • Practical experience using Salesforce PSA/resource management tools, Retain, or a comparable staffing and resource planning platform.

What Sets You Apart

  • Strong knowledge of consulting project lifecycles, role structures, and the financial tradeoffs between billable and non-billable utilization.
  • Proven success in building or materially scaling a staffing or resource management function rather than simply inheriting one.
  • Experience working with Practice Leaders, Engagement Managers, and executive stakeholders to balance client needs, business goals, and professional development priorities.
  • Solid analytical skills, including the ability to create and interpret dashboards, utilization models, capacity forecasts, and workforce reports.
  • Background in designing staffing strategies, capacity plans, and resource allocation frameworks that improve utilization and support growth.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and leading strong resource management or staffing operations teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a Big 4 firm, national consulting firm, or fast-growing advisory business.
  • PMP, CSM, or a similar project or resource management certification.
  • Exposure to workforce modeling or organizational design in a consulting setting.

Who Thrives Here

  • Confident executive presence with the ability to communicate clearly and influence senior leaders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving capability.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to bring structure to ambiguous situations.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-driven, adaptable, and reliable.
  • A people-centered leadership approach with a strong focus on developing and retaining high-performing teams.

The Opportunity Ahead

CFGI is in a growth phase, and this position will grow alongside it. You will begin by getting deeply familiar with the business, building the foundation, and establishing yourself as a strategic partner to leadership. As the firm scales, the role expands too: more headcount, greater complexity, and eventually a team to lead.

For an experienced Director-level operator who wants to build something durable at a firm where resource management can become a real competitive edge, this is the opportunity.
