Job description
About the Role
The Contractor Consultants is looking for a senior recruiting leader to oversee its recruitment division. This is a remote, full-time position open to candidates in the United States or Canada and reports to the COO.
The company helps construction businesses solve hiring challenges by providing a steady, always-on hiring funnel through its Great Hiring Partner program. The recruitment division has become a major growth driver, and this role exists to lead that engine.
Mission
Your mandate is to run the recruitment division so clients receive reliable hiring-funnel results, renew at strong rates, and get a high-touch service experience that aligns with what was promised in sales.
This is not an internal talent acquisition position. Recruiting is the core product. You will manage a multi-pod delivery organization, balancing client outcomes, team capacity, and pod-level profitability while keeping the division’s annual net profit as the main measure of success.
Key Ownership Areas
- Own the division’s profit and loss, including annual net profit in both dollars and margin. Staffing choices, capacity planning, process decisions, and client mix all affect this result.
- Drive delivery that keeps clients renewing naturally by catching service issues early, before they turn into churn.
- Build a stronger leadership bench by identifying, developing, and when needed replacing the Client Relationship Managers and Hiring Success Managers who lead pods.
- Remain close to client and recruiter activity so you can spot recurring problems early, then work with Performance and Recruitment Ops to test improvements in one pod before scaling them across the division.
- Keep a steady balance between client needs, pod capacity, and pod profitability, and push back when any one of those three becomes misaligned.
- Stay composed during pressure, help managers break problems into workable steps, and guide teams without panic or blame.
How Success Will Be Measured
- Annual net profit for the recruitment division, both dollar amount and margin
- Client churn rate
- Percentage of team pods operating in green performance status
- Team capacity and readiness percentage
- Client satisfaction score and NPS
Candidate Profile
You should bring at least 7 years of recruiting leadership experience, with significant exposure to staffing, RPO, or recruitment-services environments. The ideal background includes leading recruiting as a client-facing deliverable rather than only as an internal HR function.
You should also have experience with P&L ownership, or at minimum with revenue and margin outcomes for a delivery organization, and be comfortable discussing capacity utilization, pod or team economics, and margin protection.
Experience leading other leaders is important, including managing multiple teams through managers and building a strong succession bench.
Client retention should be a natural focus for you, with prior accountability for renewals, churn, or account health in a recurring-revenue services business.
Background in construction, trades, or skilled-labor hiring is a strong advantage, since this role requires understanding specialized hiring needs.
You should be highly operational, using KPIs, dashboards, and regular operating rhythms to guide decisions. A calm, prepared, and direct leadership style is essential; the role calls for de-escalation, problem-solving, and accountability without blame.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary is USD 160,000 to USD 200,000, depending on experience and location. A performance bonus equal to 20% of base pay is tied to division net profit, client retention, and delivery KPIs, bringing total on-target earnings to USD 192,000 to USD 240,000.
This is a fully remote role, and hiring is open across the United States and Canada.
This position is on a VP track, with title and compensation reviews linked to division profit milestones and long-term growth into VP of Recruitment.
Equal Opportunity Statement
