Director of Project Management

Role overview

IPS is seeking a Director of Project Management to head up the Project Management, Project Controls, and Planning & Scheduling function for its newly opened EMEA office in Dublin or Cork, Ireland. The role sits within a global organization delivering consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV services for complex technical facilities, especially in life sciences.

In this position, you will own the leadership of the project management team, oversee the delivery of projects in Denmark, and work closely with the Design, Construction, and CQV teams, along with corporate support groups such as HR/TA, IT, Finance, and Administration. You will report to the German Senior Director and help ensure that both the project management function and wider business priorities are achieved.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and manage the project management organization and related planning/control activities.
• Support successful delivery and performance of projects across the Denmark portfolio.
• Work in close coordination with design, construction, CQV, and corporate departments to align execution and business goals.
• Build and sustain effective business development efforts to keep teams productively utilized and to support annual growth targets.
• Identify internal subject matter experts and involve them in client development and sales efforts.
• Lead sales presentations and coach others on effective presentation delivery.
• Balance salary levels to attract and retain strong talent while preserving profitable service delivery.
• Control overhead costs so services remain competitive while keeping staff current in their fields.
• Spot and recommend new business opportunities that support diversification and long-term profitability.
• Assign personnel into project-engineering, project-management, and other revenue-generating roles.
• Monitor compliance with company policies and accepted operating practices.
• Work according to professional engineering ethics.
• Maintain appropriate relationships with clients, the public, and employees to protect and advance company interests.
• Ensure regional projects meet IPS standards for profitability and quality.
• Coordinate with Directors of Operations to maintain regional compliance.
• Regularly engage with Directors of Operations and General Managers to confirm business-unit needs are being met.
• Create active learning and development programs for staff.
• Approve relevant courses, seminars, conferences, and other development opportunities for employees.

Qualifications and experience

• A minimum of 15 years of experience in project management within the industry.
• Strong engineering design background, with experience leading engineering and design projects in pharmaceutical, biotech, or nutraceutical environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, or an equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work while gaining cooperation from others.
• Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability.
• Excellent communication skills, team-building capability, and a strong work ethic.
• Proven experience managing large teams.
• This is a safety-sensitive role involving field-based work and attendance at client sites, including construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, and other non-administrative environments.
• Interviews may be held in person or virtually, and video participation is required.
