Job description

Overview

Better Impact is dedicated to enhancing volunteerism and strengthening communities by providing software that helps nonprofits, government agencies, healthcare providers, and companies in managing volunteer recruitment, scheduling, communication, and impact tracking. Our platform supports over 85,000 organizations and millions of volunteers worldwide, accumulating more than 600 million volunteer hours. As a private equity-backed growing company, we aim to continuously advance our product suite to drive cross-functional value.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Director of Product for our Platform & Integrations division. This leadership role owns a portfolio of data-connection products from ideation through launch to commercial success. These products facilitate the flow of data between platforms, systems, and our clients’ partners, effectively forming the infrastructure of a global volunteerism ecosystem. The position requires comfort with early-stage ambiguity, complex market dynamics, and evolving technological and regulatory landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed product requirements and roadmaps for cross-platform integrations, overseeing development to market introduction.
  • Manage the consent and data governance policies that regulate the transfer of participant data across our ecosystem.
  • Collaborate closely with sales teams to ensure product capabilities are clearly understood and effectively demonstrated to clients.
  • Coordinate with engineering leadership to specify system architecture, define data schemas, and make informed tradeoffs, grounded in credible technical knowledge without direct coding involvement.
  • Engage with state Medicaid IT directors, system integrators, and enterprise partners to influence discussions toward favorable commercial outcomes.
  • Analyze market trends and competitive conditions, particularly in light of shifting regulatory environments, to strategize product positioning and competitive advantage.
  • Prioritize initiatives across competing product areas sharing engineering resources to maximize impact and efficiency.

Candidate Profile

  • At least 7 years of experience in SaaS product management and go-to-market roles, specifically with products involving integrations, data handling, platforms, or ecosystems.
  • Proven ownership of products centering on data interchange between systems rather than single user-interface features.
  • Strong commercial acumen, able to enable sales teams and translate technical capabilities into compelling business cases.
  • Adaptable to uncertain and evolving market and product conditions, thriving in early-stage project development.
  • Experience managing multiple integrated products where interoperability delivers significant value.
  • Background in government, healthcare, or compliance sectors is advantageous but optional.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage provided after 90 days of employment.
  • 401(k) retirement plan available after 90 days.
  • Unlimited vacation policy supplemented with nine paid holidays.
  • Paid parental leave offered.
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with industry standards.
