Overview
This senior leadership role, based in the United States, is for a Director of Product Management within a partner company. The position focuses on leading SaaS product strategy and innovation, overseeing a varied product portfolio, and driving measurable business results. It involves high-level strategic decision-making and working closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer success to build impactful solutions supporting public service entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a long-term product portfolio strategy aligned with business objectives, customer demands, and market trends.
- Conduct market research, competitive analyses, segmentation, and product positioning to uncover growth opportunities.
- Set pricing approaches and business recommendations to support revenue expansion and market position.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product managers and technical leads, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
- Establish and maintain product management standards covering discovery, prioritization, requirements definition, delivery, and performance measurement.
- Own strategic product roadmaps and prioritization, balancing immediate impact with long-term vision.
- Build business cases, assess investment opportunities, and implement ROI tracking for new initiatives.
- Partner with engineering and design leadership to guide product development from initial discovery to launch and ongoing enhancement.
- Define key product performance indicators, adoption metrics, and frameworks to monitor customer outcomes and business success.
- Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and customer success teams to craft go-to-market strategies, messaging, and revenue enablement.
- Support evaluation and integration efforts related to strategic partnerships or acquisitions.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- 7 to 10+ years of recent experience managing SaaS product portfolios with ownership of B2B or B2G product strategy.
- Proven ability to define and execute portfolio-level strategies in sophisticated technology environments.
- Expertise in pricing strategies, market analysis, product positioning, and competitive intelligence.
- Experience building and managing high-performing product teams, including recruitment, mentoring, and performance management.
- Strong executive communication skills with experience presenting strategic plans to senior leadership.
- Advanced analytical skills for business case development, KPI creation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Comprehensive understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern product management tools.
- Experience incorporating AI capabilities into software products or strategies.
- Background in EdTech, GovTech, public sector, or regulated industries is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with learning management systems, online training tech, compliance workflows, or certification platforms is a plus.
- Experience in supporting mergers, acquisitions, or management consulting projects is beneficial.
- Relevant certifications such as Agile Scrum Product Owner, Scaled Agile Framework, PMI-ACP, or Pragmatic Marketing are preferred.
- MBA or equivalent advanced business degree is advantageous.
