Position Overview

The Director of Planning will be responsible for creating and leading the comprehensive inventory planning strategy. This includes forecasting sales, managing purchasing, and coordinating sales planning to drive profitable growth. The role oversees the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process by effectively balancing demand forecasting, inventory investment, production capacities, and supply chain limitations. Collaboration across multiple departments is key to aligning commercial demand with operational capabilities and supporting scalable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the inventory sales forecasting process across seasonal launches, replenishment cycles, and new product categories.
  • Develop SKU-, color-, and size-specific bottom-up forecasts by integrating various data sources.
  • Create and refine forecasting methods that consider product lifecycle changes.
  • Integrate factors such as promotions and customer acquisition into sales forecasts.
  • Lead regular forecast review sessions aimed at increasing accuracy.
  • Convert sales forecasts into actionable inventory and vendor production plans to optimize stock levels and manage cash flow.
  • Set and monitor inventory targets alongside key health metrics.
  • Balance inventory requirements with operational constraints.
  • Collaborate closely with sourcing and production teams to ensure timely replenishment and new product launches.
  • Plan for inventory risk mitigation through scenario analysis and contingency strategies.
  • Lead the S&OP process to foster cross-departmental alignment.
  • Coordinate efforts among marketing, operations, and finance teams.
  • Provide strategic insights on inventory investments and operational risks.
  • Manage in-stock availability and size options for e-commerce platforms and marketplaces.
  • Optimize inventory distribution across various sales channels.
  • Ensure inventory practices align with product lifecycle management strategies.
  • Track and report key performance indicators related to inventory and planning.
  • Design dashboards and scalable planning processes to support growing operational needs.
  • Identify operational risks proactively and propose data-driven solutions.

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).
  • Proficiency in constructing detailed forecasts down to the SKU and size levels.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Proven track record of cross-functional cooperation with teams such as marketing, finance, sourcing, and supply chain.
  • Skill in managing inventory targets, risk mitigation, and balancing operational limitations.
  • Excellent leadership in managing planning processes and effective communication with executive leadership.
