Director of Photography (DoP) – Live TV Production

Role Overview

Are you passionate about live media, TV production, and broadcast technology? As the Director of Photography (DoP) for Live TV Production at our Munich-based studio, you will hold a pivotal role in our live broadcasts, ensuring seamless integration of camera work, lighting design, and studio technical operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the visual quality of all live productions, guaranteeing that camera techniques, lighting, and imagery meet the highest brand and quality standards.
• Create innovative visual concepts, camera strategies, and lighting moods tailored to various live formats, actively driving creative advancements.
• Design distinct visual styles for different brands, shows, and hosts to establish strong visual identities and recognizability.
• Lead and mentor the visual-tech team, including camera and visual operators, fostering their professional growth continuously.
• Manage camera, lighting, and image technology expertly, balancing artistic vision with practical production requirements.
• Collaborate closely with production, live broadcast, planning, and other departments to enhance visual execution through effective cross-team coordination.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Completed training as a Media Designer for Image and Sound, a degree in Media Technology, or an equivalent qualification with strong broadcast engineering expertise.
• Extensive experience in camera operation, image composition, and lighting within broadcast environments, coupled with several years of leadership in creative and technical teams.
• Profound knowledge of studio technology, signal paths, production systems, broadcast equipment, and vision mixers.
• Proven track record in developing visual concepts and brand imagery, with a keen eye for image quality, lighting, color, and atmosphere.
• Strong leadership skills marked by clear communication of expectations and quality standards, decision-making strength, and assertiveness.
• Multiple years of experience in studio or broadcast settings, ideally as a DoP, image mixer, or a comparable visual leadership position in live production.
