Job description
About the Role
An established and financially robust market participant is enhancing its capabilities in commodity derivatives origination, focusing on energy asset classes including oil and gas derivatives. This leadership role bridges financial markets with physical commodities, offering the chance to develop intricate risk management and financial strategies for a diverse international clientele.
Key Responsibilities
As the leader of Commodities Derivatives Origination, you will develop and implement the regional origination plan, forging strong relationships with senior stakeholders such as producers, large industrial companies, utilities, and financial entities. You will oversee the design and execution of sophisticated, tailor-made derivatives solutions, which may include long-term, multi-commodity deals and hedging products linked to renewables and energy transition. Collaboration with teams in trading, portfolio management, credit, legal, and risk is essential to integrate transactions effectively into broader portfolios. Building and nurturing a high-achievement origination team while embedding a culture of commercial discipline and technical excellence will also be central to your duties.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will possess a university degree and over ten years of expertise in energy origination, structured trading, commodities sales, or a related segment within investment banking or financial markets. Proven success in managing complex, high-value Energy derivative transactions involving Oil, Gas, and LNG is required. A postgraduate degree in quantitative or financial fields is favorable. Deep understanding of global energy and commodity markets, strong knowledge of options and structured products, and the capability to clearly communicate quantitative risk concepts to clients are critical. Leadership skills, prudent risk and regulatory awareness, and insight into products related to energy transition are essential to excel.
