Job description
Job Summary
The Director of Operations will own the performance of manufacturing and critical support functions at the facility. This role also oversees on-site areas such as shipping and distribution, with a strong focus on ongoing gains in efficiency, quality, safety, customer service, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage manufacturing activity for a commercial production site.
- Drive the goal of maintaining a zero-injury workplace.
- Be accountable for production results, including team safety, product quality, food safety, service levels, and cost, while continuously strengthening process reliability and overall performance.
- Promote a work environment built on respect, collaboration, and professionalism.
- Expand operational capability to respond to market demand and support profitable product growth.
- Identify, report, and act on issues that could lead to food safety or food quality concerns.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety requirements, including sustainability expectations.
- Take an active role in root-cause problem-solving activities.
- Join daily huddle meetings and contribute to operational alignment.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing leadership experience, strong people management ability, and a practical understanding of plant operations. They should be comfortable leading across departments and improving day-to-day execution while building a high-performing team.
Additional Information
- Required education includes a bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, or another technical discipline.
- An MBA is considered an advantage.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible manufacturing experience is required, including at least 5 years in the food industry.
- At least 4 years of direct supervisory experience is required.
- Experience leading personnel safety initiatives is expected.
- Applicants should have a strong history of improving operations while sustaining daily performance.
- Familiarity with major plant functions such as production, quality, maintenance, materials management, and controllership is important.
- A participative leadership approach, along with strong organizational and communication skills, is needed.
- Experience building and strengthening management teams is required.
- Strong business judgment and working knowledge of process control and improvement methods are essential.
