Director of Operations and Business Development

Overview

The Director of Operations and Business Development at Krieger Scientific holds a senior leadership position responsible for spearheading business growth and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Founder and CEO, this role focuses on expanding the company's footprint in the life sciences sector while ensuring every project is meticulously staffed and managed with the highest standard of accountability that defines Krieger Scientific.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement strategies to drive business development across life sciences organizations.
• Source, assess, and secure new business prospects, nurturing relationships with both new and existing clients.
• Create proposals, develop pricing models, prepare presentations, and negotiate contracts to advance company interests.
• Maintain precise revenue forecasts and update the CEO regularly on business progress.
• Establish and nurture strategic partnerships aligned with growth objectives.
• Represent Krieger Scientific at industry meetings, conferences, and events.
• Collaborate with the Head of People to anticipate hiring needs, design effective recruitment strategies, and define clear job descriptions and role qualifications.
• Participate actively in recruitment processes by interviewing candidates and ensuring hires align technically, culturally, and in leadership potential.
• Continuously evaluate organizational structure, succession planning, and leadership development to support scaling.
• Monitor and optimize operational performance by tracking KPIs such as revenue growth, client acquisition and retention, project profitability, staffing efficiency, and client satisfaction.
• Implement repeatable processes and improve communication between business development, recruiting, and project delivery teams.
• Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO on growth, operational improvements, and talent management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in business development within the life sciences industry.
• Background managing operations in consulting, engineering, technical services, or project-driven organizations.
• Expertise in selling consulting or technical service solutions.
• Deep knowledge of the life sciences consulting market and existing connections within the sector.
• Familiarity with CQV, engineering services, quality and compliance, calibration, asset management, relocation, or technical staffing services.
• Experience crafting proposals, pricing services, negotiating contracts, and managing client relations.
• Ability to establish and oversee operational KPIs effectively.
• Demonstrated leadership capability in building and mentoring high-performing teams.
• Experience collaborating on talent acquisition and organizational design.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
• Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
