Role Overview
Botanic Tonics is hiring a Director of National Accounts to accelerate growth within the national convenience store channel. The role calls for a strategic sales leader who understands the convenience retail landscape, can build strong commercial relationships, and knows how to create and execute plans that expand distribution and sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new opportunities in the chain store segment and take ownership of opening doors with prospective national accounts.
- Partner with marketing to build focused sales and promotional plans that highlight the brand’s key differentiators.
- Create and sustain durable relationships with important national chain accounts.
- Learn each account’s business in depth and use that knowledge to shape account-specific strategies that support sales growth and partnership expansion.
- Handle contract discussions and ongoing contract management while protecting the company’s interests and commercial objectives.
- Use financial understanding to structure and negotiate deals in a way that supports Botanic Tonics’ advantage.
- Track market shifts, competitor activity, and consumer preferences in the product category on an ongoing basis.
- Adjust sales plans as the market changes and new opportunities emerge so share can be maintained and grown.
- Act as the main representative and advocate for the company’s products in all account-facing interactions.
- Ensure product positioning and brand messaging remain consistent with company standards and values.
- Define, monitor, and evaluate account performance metrics and use data to guide decisions.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership, including account analysis, market observations, and strategic recommendations.
- Work closely with marketing, DSDs, and supply chain teams to execute account strategies smoothly.
- Share market intelligence and strategic thinking that can inform broader company direction.
- Potentially build and lead a team over time, including hiring, coaching, and driving strong performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related discipline; a master’s degree or relevant industry certification is considered an advantage.
- At least 8 years of professional experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading key or national account relationships with direct responsibility for HQ-level management.
- Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales targets and growing similar accounts or businesses.
- Background in consultative selling with the ability to build persuasive value propositions and develop relationships from C-suite leaders to factory-floor stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Strategic mindset with an entrepreneurial approach.
- Solid analytical ability and comfort making decisions based on data.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build lasting business relationships.
- Capable of working independently and leading initiatives.
