Role Overview
The Director of Merchandising for Women's Apparel will oversee merchandising strategies and assortment planning specifically for the Women's Knits and Sweaters category. This role focuses on shaping regional assortment structures, integrating global product strategies to meet market demands, and ensuring the delivery of profitable product offerings that foster business expansion.
Primary Responsibilities
- Establish and execute merchandising strategies that align with overall business goals and regional market requirements.
- Develop and optimize seasonal product assortments to support financial targets and reinforce brand positioning.
- Collaborate with regional teams to uncover category opportunities, assess product demands, and refine assortment strategies.
- Evaluate sales data, industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer insights to guide merchandising decisions.
- Provide strategic guidance on pricing and manage in-season product adjustments.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Design, Supply Chain, Raw Materials, Planning, Marketing, and Visual Merchandising to ensure successful product launches.
- Participate in showroom setups and organize seasonal product presentations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop merchandising team members through direction, coaching, and feedback mechanisms.
- Monitor team performance, set priorities, and foster professional growth.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance merchandising processes and overall business outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
- Over seven years of merchandising, buying, or relevant retail experience.
- Strong skills in analytical thinking and financial planning.
- In-depth knowledge of assortment planning, product strategy, pricing, and merchandising principles.
- Thorough understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and market dynamics.
- Experience collaborating with diverse teams such as Design, Planning, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Sales.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to juggle multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
