About the Role
The University of South Carolina invites applications for the position of Director of Marketing & Fan Experience focused on Women's Basketball. This role is integral to the Athletics Department, tasked with crafting and implementing strategic marketing campaigns, boosting fan involvement, and increasing revenue streams tied to Gamecock Athletics.
The Director will oversee marketing initiatives specific to women's basketball, guide community outreach efforts, manage non-ticketed sports activities and revenue events, and enhance overall fan engagement and attendance. By forging strong community partnerships, this position bolsters the university's athletic brand visibility throughout South Carolina.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and execution of marketing strategies and programs designed to elevate fan experience and attendance.
- Manage game-day presentation and promotional events to improve audience engagement.
- Supervise and mentor interns or project teams supporting marketing campaigns.
- Collaborate with multiple internal teams and external stakeholders to maximize marketing effectiveness.
- Support department goals regarding revenue generation and community involvement.
- Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays aligned with athletic events.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proven track record in designing and implementing marketing plans and fan engagement programs.
- Experience with event presentation and promotional activities at athletic events.
- Strong leadership skills in managing and mentoring team members or interns.
- Excellent communication—both written and verbal—and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced setting efficiently.
- Availability to work non-standard hours based on event schedules.
Preferred Credentials & Experience
- Master's degree in marketing, sports management, communications, business administration, public relations, or related disciplines.
- Background in NCAA Division I athletics, especially within Power Four conferences.
- Experience collaborating with multimedia rights holders, ticketing, communications, and creative teams.
- Familiarity with budget administration, strategic planning, and operational management.
