Overview

The Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB) is inviting applications for a full-time Director of Investigations based at the Las Vegas office. Reporting directly to the Executive Office of the NSCB, this leadership role involves managing compliance investigations and criminal enforcement activities to uphold professional standards within Nevada's construction industry. The NSCB operates offices in both Las Vegas and Reno and is dedicated to safeguarding public health, safety, and welfare through a rigorous licensing regulatory framework. This is an at-will employment position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assess the performance of four supervisors responsible for 21 investigation personnel, directing the overall investigative functions.
  • Lead and mentor the Investigations team to meet organizational goals.
  • Manage personnel matters including supervision, leave management, and performance evaluations.
  • Formulate and execute the NSCB’s investigative and enforcement tactics.
  • Develop and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper oversight of disciplinary administrative processes.
  • Address queries as assigned by the Executive Officer.
  • Build collaborative relationships with law enforcement entities and construction industry stakeholders.
  • Partner with state officials and legislative members on oversight matters and report requirements.
  • Travel locally and out-of-state as necessary, which may include overnight stays.
  • Execute the NSCB’s strategic plans and objectives.
  • Maintain a consistent presence at the Las Vegas office unless duties require travel or other locations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of ten years of relevant law enforcement experience and/or training.
  • Ideal candidates are mission-focused leaders with a law enforcement background and strong skills in management, strategy, relationship building, and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Nevada Revised Statute 624.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities with proficiency in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Experienced in preparing professional documents and familiar with computer databases, spreadsheets, and word processors.
  • Understanding of criminal law terms, construction industry standards, and investigative documentation procedures.
  • Ability to interpret legal and legislative texts.
  • Competence in handling inquiries from clients, regulatory bodies, or the business community.
  • Skillful in composing speeches, correspondence, and public dissemination materials.
  • Effective in media communications and public engagement.
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License required.

Physical and Work Conditions

  • Ability to travel within Nevada and beyond as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Las Vegas office.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $125,000 to $145,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision insurance, and participation in 401 and 457 pension plans.
  • Note: NSCB employees are not part of Nevada P.E.R.S. retirement system.
