Role Overview
This position is based in Chicago, IL, requiring a hybrid work schedule of three days onsite and two days remote. The Director of IT Infrastructure will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction, architecture, governance, and deployment of technology services within a complex hybrid IT environment for a leading Electrical Equipment Manufacturing company. Areas of focus include driving modernization efforts, cloud transformation programs, strengthening cybersecurity, and ensuring excellent service delivery to support manufacturing operations and business expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the enterprise IT infrastructure strategy, roadmap, and modernization projects.
- Supervise hybrid IT infrastructure operations encompassing on-premises facilities, private clouds, and public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Enhance infrastructure performance, reliability, and efficiency across networking, computing, storage, and virtualization technologies.
- Lead cloud adoption, migration, governance practices, and cost management efforts.
- Support the integration of IT and operational technology (OT) in manufacturing, engineering, and warehouse settings.
- Ensure scalable and secure infrastructures to sustain critical business applications and daily operations.
- Oversee cybersecurity programs including identity and access management, privileged access management, Zero Trust architectures, endpoint, and network security.
- Manage Microsoft-based technologies such as Entra ID, Intune, multi-factor authentication, and conditional access policies.
- Augment infrastructure security measures, minimize operational risks, and enhance protections against ransomware threats.
- Manage IT service delivery with a focus on ITIL and IT Service Management methodologies to meet SLA targets and optimize key performance indicators.
- Lead incident, problem, change, asset, and configuration management processes to maintain operational excellence.
- Administer vendor relations, contracts, licensing, and partnerships; direct technology financial planning and investment decision-making.
- Build and mentor strong, effective teams and collaborate with executive leadership on digital transformation priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of experience managing information systems, including 5-7 years in leadership roles with increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated expertise in hybrid cloud environments, enterprise infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity practices.
- Proficiency with Azure, AWS, Entra ID, Intune, and modern endpoint management platforms.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL and IT Service Management frameworks.
- Track record of success leading cloud migration projects, infrastructure modernization, and technology transformation initiatives.
- Experience working with manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or operational technology environments.
- Skilled in budget management, vendor negotiation, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
