Role Summary

The Director of Human Resources for MEDVET Caribbean Operations is a prominent HR leadership role based in South Florida. This position oversees HR strategy and operations for MEDVET locations in St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and Barbados, engaging closely with institutional leadership and managing HR Generalists across campuses. The role demands cultural sensitivity to diverse institutional traditions and environments, translating enterprise HR strategies into actionable and sustainable initiatives tailored to each site's unique characteristics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Craft and implement HR strategies aligned with MEDVET's priorities and Covista’s overarching operating model, ensuring future readiness.
  • Establish trusted, culturally attuned partnerships with leadership, faculty, and HR teams across all campuses.
  • Advise institutional stakeholders on talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, employee relations, leadership growth, and engagement.
  • Translate corporate HR initiatives into locally relevant and feasible action plans, balancing consistency and site-specific needs.
  • Identify barriers and clarify roles to enhance collaboration across complex matrix teams.
  • Lead Organizational Health Index planning by analyzing survey data, prioritizing themes, and collaborating on actionable follow-ups.
  • Drive culture-building and engagement campaigns emphasizing strategic clarity, accountability, and performance transparency.
  • Facilitate leadership development, colleague engagement, and cultural outreach activities to strengthen trust and visibility.
  • Manage Covista’s Connected Performance process, including frameworks, calibrations, coaching, and reviewing performance outcomes.
  • Advise on job design, workforce structuring, recruitment processes in partnership with Talent Acquisition and HR teams.
  • Collaborate with finance and Total Rewards teams to plan salaries, promotions, recruit compensations, budgets, and talent investments.
  • Develop and facilitate management and leadership training across Caribbean and South Florida teams, enhancing local managerial capabilities.
  • Create scalable learning tools and support leadership consistency across sites.
  • Oversee HR Generalists' development through mentorship and coaching.
  • Coordinate with HR Centers of Excellence to ensure consistent enterprise HR practices.
  • Promote use and adoption of HR technologies, including AI-driven solutions, ensuring process improvements and confidentiality.
  • Provide guidance on complex employee relations, compliance, and policy matters in collaboration with legal and internal partners.
  • Lead organizational change management initiatives with thoughtful people-focused planning and execution.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in managing sensitive matters.
  • Supervise HR Generalists across three Caribbean campuses, setting clear goals and fostering a high-performing team culture.
  • Coordinate HR initiatives ensuring alignment and accountability across regional and US-based teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree mandatory; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Senior HR professional certifications (SPHR or SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • 8 to 10+ years of multifaceted HR experience including multi-site and multi-jurisdictional environments.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching HR teams.
  • Experience with learning, development, training facilitation, and culture initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Collaborative experience with HR Centers of Excellence, Talent Acquisition, Legal, and Employee Relations.
  • Proficiency in HR systems, data analytics, and technology usage for operational improvements.
